Alexandrie 1
By: Ammar Bouras. This photographic montage was created in September 2004 as part of a workshop in Alexandria. It offers an architectural and visual decomposition of the Library of Alexandria, a symbolic space of knowledge and collective memory. Through a fragmented format, the work reinterprets the place by playing with reality and abstraction: surfaces, volumes, and reflections become the materials of a visual sculpture that transcends mere decor to become a perceptual experience.
The Library of Alexandria, located in Egypt, was one of the largest and most important libraries of the ancient world. It formed part of a larger complex, likely intended for research and scholarship. Although its exact size and the circumstances of its disappearance remain the subject of debate among historians, its legacy as a center of world knowledge is undeniable. It symbolizes the quest for knowledge and the preservation of written heritage.
